My work explores the possibilities of still life; a central focus of flowers, fruits, vegetables and various objects. This may be set against a particular landscape, which serves to extend the spatial possibilities of each work. Otherwise, the still life might be contained in a closed interior surrounded by a densely patterned fabric.

Working in natural light precludes the color in my paintings to be lush. I use an accent of a drape or ribbon to contrast and pick up a color theme that will unify the parts to a whole.

At first glance the compositions appear casual, but there is a complex formality to them that is the culmination of acute observation heightened by a highly developed color sense.
